russinvägen

apartment
renovation

06–01–2020 — 03–05–2021

site: russinvägen, stockholm municipality
area: 74 sqm
team: james hamilton, malin heyman
carpenter: henrik rundgren

The apartment is located in one of a series of buildings designed by Ernst Grönwall and built in 1954 as part of the development of Hökarängen, a post war southern suburb of Stockholm. The renovation of the apartment focused on the kitchen and hallway, where an attempt to maximize storage and work surfaces was combined with the desire to understand and interpret the functionalist qualities of the original design and detailing. The result is heavily informed by the architects original plans, the clients budget and the daily wear and tear of a family of four.
