Play Spaces is a suspended retreat designed for an 8-year-old boy within a private residence in Connecticut. Composed of safety netting and two steel rings, it creates a dynamic, shifting environment for play and rest. When lowered, the net mirrors the shape of the belfry it is suspended in, forming an intimate, soft enclosure. When hoisted into the belfry, it opens up a more social space below, inviting interaction and play.

This lightweight yet sturdy structure blends architectural precision with playful adaptability, offering both enclosure and openness. By allowing the user to control its spatial configuration, it fosters a sense of agency, encouraging exploration and engagement with the environment.
