LOBBY is a limited-series publication from the Bartlett School of Architecture in London, recognized for its thematic explorations of architecture’s intersections with culture, politics, and society. Each issue is carefully curated to foster critical discourse on contemporary spatial thought.
Issue No. 5, Faith (Autumn 2016), edited by Regner Ramos, James Taylor-Foster, Marcela Aragüez, Nito Ramírez, Gregorio Astengo, and Mrinal Rammohan, examined how belief—religious, institutional, or ideological—shapes architectural spaces and experiences. The contribution Anatomical Theater – Uppsala explored the intersection of ritual, knowledge production and education are represented and embodied by the architecture of the anatomical theater in Uppsala.
By framing architectural form within broader narratives of faith and institutional power, this piece, along with the wider issue, invites readers to reconsider how built environments embody and enforce belief systems.
